Murphys, California
Buena Vista Cemetery

It's Friday, June 30th.
I've taken the day off from work so I can drive up to Murphys, California.
The weekend of the wedding.
Figured I'd drive up Friday and come back Sunday.

So I'm up there to attend the wedding, right.
Leave it to me to find the town cemetery not too long after checking into the Suites!
I spent about an hour walking around that cemetery.
It was nice, it was peaceful, it was HOT!
After a while it started to cool down a little as the sun was dropping further in the West.
Thank gawd for all the trees! Had a lot of shade. Always nice.

According to the arch that I drove under as I drove in, the cemetery is Buena Vista Cememtery.
However, where the original old cemetery lies within the old fenced in area, the arch above the gates reads I.O.O.F.
So hell if I know. Since the road itself was called cemetery road, I could have possible been in two cemeteries that are just connected together.

I love looking at all the different style of tombstones, always finding some I've never seen before.
It's also interesting to see how the grave sites are still maintained by family members.
The way they leave momentos or statuary.
This particluar Angel caught my eye as I was walking by.
It was placed right over the center of the grave site.
What I liked about it was upon a closer look of her playing her harp I saw that her harp itself had windchimes as the cords.
I could just imagine the beautiful melody the wind would play for whoever is laid to rest there.
Did he/she love the sound of windchimes while they were alive?
I wonder...

This whole cemetery felt very peaceful as I took my time exploring it.
I find the cemeteries that feel the most peaceful are the ones I completely forget the time and before I know it hours have passed.
